LVJBS FEBRUARY 2025 (VIRTUAL)

Meeting Minutes

Date: Tuesday, February 4, 2025

Meeting Start:   7:01 PM

Location: Virtual (GoogleMeet)

Attendees: Jessica G, Jessica P., Paige T., Angela C., Haley S., Liani D., Greg S.

Item1: President’s Report (Jessica G.):

A.    Ad-Partnerships updates:

*BBLV: We have Ad-Partnerships with the Brooklyn Bowl for the following Feb./March events: Gary Clark Jr.: February 20th  BADFISH:  March 7th events as well as the MARCH & APRIL Melvin Seals/JGB, Jerry’s Middle Finger, BERTHA, and JRAD shows. (Jessica created the Google Form for the Gary Clark Jr. lottery & will send it out this week to the updated Membership list & next week, the Badfish lottery (10 tickets) will go out. (Gary Clark has 6 tickets up for grabs.)

*The Smith Center (Spencer Patterson—Director of public relations) had sent an inquiry on group-sales for an upcoming jazz-quartet (THE BAD PLUS) (March 22nd) that was advertised in an article on GRATEFUL WEB.  Due to the Sphere conflicts, the early show (5 PM) would probably be the only one with any interest.  I suggested a possible ad-partnership with them for some lottery comps.  The ‘Senior Marketing Director’ asked for a pricing sheet, info about our database, and an example of our newsletter to proceed with a possible partnership? Jessica to FWD previous communications with Haley to follow up with Smith Center with more information.

B.  Angela (Secretary) & Jessica (President) delivered a donated drum kit to Keller  MS for their band department. Angela provided a donation letter to Melanie.

C.  Shakedown Vegas updates?

  • Robert contacted us today recommending we apply for a LIQUID BLUE wholesale account. Paige will research this more and then connect with Robert.

Some of the previously discussed items:

  • Jeffrey Peterson will be making a special comic book. LVJBS agreed to purchase an ad. Cost is $150 for a 5” x 4” ½ page color ad. (Jessica created a draft of an ad, with added points of what the LVJBS does around the logo–awaiting feedback.)

  • Since March is ‘Music in our Schools’ month—We want to make sure to advertise that and get some donated instruments our way and to schools. (Jessica G. to create a Flyer--later to be made into a poster-- to hang at Shakedown)

  • Maybe an incentive for bringing instruments (in any condition) to our table (free T-shirt/license plate) or the mentioned ‘’line pass lanyards”.

  • Line pass lanyards would get any late-Sphere arrivals into the late-night shows without much wait.

  • Jessica sent an ad for rubber bracelets to the Officers’ page. (Discussed, then agreed to not order.)

  • What are some things we would want to get ordered?

    • Lighters, hand sanitizers, poker chips

    • Discussed Collaboration with Robert - LVJBS logo on one side and ‘Shakedown Vegas’ on the other

  • Shakedown Vegas gives a gift bag to the Vendors (and possibly the ‘first 50-100’ arrivals)—What would we want to add to it (our LVJBS card, LVJBS sticker?)

  • The booth sizes/areas are larger this time around (the outdoor Shakedown area is in the rear of the Tuscany)—We discussed ordering a smaller LVJBS vinyl banner (square one?) We need to decide what to say on the banner-possibly using the comic book ad?  Paige has made contact with Zack M. (Scotty’s son) & will ask about price/turnaround time. (Jessica to connect with Printing Company friend (Todd) for more information on price and their turnaround time.)

  • We discussed getting some larger posters made sharing ‘what we do’ so they are seen as people walk by:  LVJBS helps get instruments for students in schools, LVJBS helps College-bound music majors with scholarships, LVJBS helps clean-up the community with Adopt-A-Highway, etc.

  • Whom can we advertise with?  97.1 FM radio, maybe 91.5 FM with The Lyons Den.  (Thoughts of phoning into ‘Tales from the Golden Road’ Sunday SiriusXM show soon—introducing our new Officers “That’s right—the women are smarter” & let the community know what we do and mention stopping by our table at the Shakedown Vegas weekends.)

  • Jessica is getting the LVJBS table Shakedown Vegas sign-up sheet started in February so people can plan their work schedules, etc.  The needed times would be 10 AM-5 PM (event 11 AM- 7 PM)

  • Kathy Gutzat will provide her easy-up & depending on booth area, purchasing an additional.

D.  For the 3.14 Pie HOMECOOKIN’ event:

(Thinking we should coordinate a special LVJBS pizza PIE creation or discounted deal with the SandDollar?  What about having a variety of pies on hand for those in attendance to have a slice?) OR, dessert PIES: Jessica’s work has had mini-pies in the past (individually boxed) & asked about pricing (They are from Walmart--$1.28/ea.--no forks needed—hold & go)? Paige to discuss ordering mini pies with her local Smith’s ($1/ea.)  (Group would rather support Smith’s since they support us with the ‘give back’ program.)

E.  Thanks to Jessica G., Ray H., and Rochelle G. for helping out with last month’s ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY clean-up.

F. Updates on Officer duties?

*Thoughts to discuss some helpful Officer duties for 2025—Here are some notes—Let’s add any thoughts to them:

Vice President:  Keeping a document on a database (Google Sheets?) with any LVJBS events for the year. This way, at year’s end, we can easily count the number of events, go back to verify any dates, etc.   (WEBSITE editing is needed—There are old ads, misprints/misspelled words, etc.  Fonts are hard to read and it’s outdated.) Liani suggested using a google calendar on our new website.

Mayor: Save some of the posted photos from the year’s events (or take some of your own!) to help with the mentioned 2026 Calendar’s pages.  (Citone/Kabik have permitted us in the past to utilize theirs if any are taken at our event/posted to Social Media).

VP or Mayor:  Helping (prior to each meeting) to get the monthly LVJBS events/non-LVJBS music events listed and shared with Angela for the meeting notes.  This helps with knowing what is upcoming to avoid double booking & helps to be a database for those who read the minutes to know what music might be of interest.  (Maybe we can start a Google Sheet where we can add whatever is heard of/announced so any one of us can add to it. This would help with adding reminders to Social Media and an easy way to copy/paste to the meetings’ minutes.)

Item 2: Vice President’s Report (Jessica P.):

  1. Suggested we celebrate Mardi Gras, which is on the same day as our next meeting. Next meeting (in-person) will be at El Dorado Cantina (Sunset location). 6:30 pm to set-up/ready decorations. Haley started new job here and will discuss with them prior.

  2. Adam’s band – SAGE COURAGEOUS playing at The Jackpot (Jones & Harman) Saturday, March 8th. . It would be great if we could support him. All ages.

(The Jackpot is a great venue, with a stage, bar, and outside patio. Possible future venue?)

Item 3:  TREASURER’S REPORT (Paige):

  • 2025 DUES info/renewal reminders went out in late December.

$10/mo. OR $100/mo. (if paid in full by March’s meeting.) OR $150/couple (with the same address, if PIF by March’s meeting.)  (Anyone who attends 1, 2, 3, or 4 meetings in 2024, can have a $5-$20 discount off of their dues.)

  • Update on Blank Business Card order?  Banner order?

-Matching content on Banner and Comic Book Ad

  • Paige will provide list of members to Jessica tomorrow

SECRETARY’S REPORT (Angela):

  1. Jessica G. sent agenda to help with minutes.

  2. Angela picked up donated drum kit and provided Melanie with donation letter. Donated drums delivered to Keller MS for their band department.
