    MAY 2023 LVJBS Meeting Minutes

    Date: May 2, 2023

    Meeting Start: 7:05 PM

    Location: Crown & Anchor

    Attendees:  Our Officers: Johnnie T., Paige T., Jessica G., Shannon S., & Greg S.

Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie): “Let’s get started—Thanks for showing up!”

    A. Thanks to Jessica for getting our monthly meeting minutes posted promptly each month.

    B. Recent thoughts have been to ‘how to raise funds without having an event’?  Prior to the pandemic & recent inflation, it was easier to have events with cover charges.  We have been looking into finding Corporate Sponsors who like supporting local non-profits for their tax purposes so have been drafting a brochure that will easily be distributed to find these supporters.  Draft is now being edited.

    C. Recently, JT was on the KUNV 91.5 FM station during their monthly ‘National Non-Profit Fundraising Day’ radio show where non-profits get to share information about themselves and get matched donations ‘if’ listeners want to support their cause.  We mentioned our support for George Lyons’ radio show and George’s LVJBS connection.  Ashton Ridley, from KUNV, has emailed back and wants to reconnect in the fall.

    D. Made connection with Jeremy @ JamminOn to work on a future collaboration by having a local band or two play for a donation/door cover charge to help raise some funds, while supporting his great store.  (We have been approved for the future ‘Howie Green’s Music Collection Silent Auction’ event.  More details/date TBD.)

    E. Recently joined the Las Vegas Live Music Facebook page and introduced self & the LVJBS.  There has been a lot of comments and positive feedback.  This will be a good place to find venue information and share local live music events.

    F. All At Odds (local live music/digital creator) reached out for a future collaboration.  (Recent show at SoulBelly BBQ)

    G. Was contacted by Room6Radio, a podcast, asking about local live music venues in Las Vegas.

    H. Last month’s minutes mentioned SaddlesNSpurs wanting to change our 2nd Sunday supported event to a Tuesday event.  SnS’s owner had made the date change request mistake.  It wasn’t meant to be a change of day—2nd Sundays work!  (We are going to get some of our interested bands in contact with SnS for the fall.)

    Item 2: Vice President’s Report/PRODUCTION Report (Greg):

    A. Greg to make a Facebook “Virtual Tip Jar” request to help with lost funds from the recent LVJBS Legends Reunion event—There is a current website link.

    B. Made contact with Jimmy Duke, who is looking into a future lighting gig for ‘Brit Floyd’ (tribute band).

    C. Greg and JC plan to meet up with Andrew Cortney (Oxford24 venue at Virgin, The SpaceLV, & Craig Ranch Amphitheater) to discuss a fall event.

    D. Looking into hosting a late summer/early fall GOLF TOURNMENT at Angel Park where we can have local businesses sponsor each hole.  We would have advertisements (signs/info) at each hole.  Also, each sign up player will get a percentage/donation of the sign-up fee returned to the LVJBS to help raise funds.

    Item 3:  Treasurer’s Report (Paige):

    • ·         A. The PEF Scholarship (Public Education Foundation) let us know that during the summer, we will receive a copy of their scholarship book with the listed recipients. The LVJBS will be recognized as a donor.  (Jessica to send a ‘thank you card’ to Tecopa Productions for their help in sponsorship once that makes it our way.)

    Item 4: Secretary’s Report (Jessica):

    • ·         A. The next planned ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY event will be on SUNDAY, MAY 7th @ 9 AM.  Details on our Facebook page.

    • ·         B. The LVJBS Memorial Tree ‘dedication’ ceremony/drum circle will be on SUNDAY, MAY 7th @ 4:20 PM (until sunset—approx. 7:10 PM) at Sunset Park.  Details on our Facebook page.
    •
    • Item 5:  Mayor’s Report (Shannon):
    •
    • ·         A. Made contact with Derrick (agent) & Brian of Hot Buttered Rum regarding their recent plan to get to Vegas.  The date they mentioned was ‘too soon’ (5/22) with not enough time to advertises or find a location.  They also mentioned 12/22, which may be too close to the Holidays.  We will work with them to secure a future, better date soon!
    •
    • ·         B. 3-Degree Guarantee which works with local non-profits to raise money when the weather forecast is out of the 3-degree forecasted range.  Shannon to contact News3 with the needed paperwork/LVJBS info to get this started.
    •
    • ·         C. Keychain pics and cards plan to be given out at the updated Catfish John show.  (Lots of recent gigs have had our info shared/given out.)
    •
    • ·         D.   We want to send our love and support to one of our members, Jared E., on a recent medical challenge and wish him luck & support.
    •
    • ·         C.  COLOR:  Coral

    Item 6: Production Report (Greg):

    • ·         A. MARCUS REZAK (who played the ‘Jerry’ part at our recent Reunion event) wanted to come back with one (or two) of his other bands (Shred is Dead or Gumbo (Phish tribute), Guitar Headband, or a Zappa Experience).
    • -Jessica made contact with him to look into their cost requirements/requests:  Hospitality (bar/food), Travel, Room needs, etc.  (They are looking into a late summer, early fall/Holiday release album release party.)  His Agent, Matt, sent email with pricing.
    • -Greg to contact back with our concerns (finding venues that allow us to charge cover charges & giving us a better ‘ballpark’ number of costs) so we can look into a possible future collaboration.  More info TBD.

    Item 7: Open Floor (all):

*(Jessica) A lot of LVJBS cards/keychains were given out at the recent Ventura ‘Skull & Roses’ event.

*(Jessica) The LVJBS July meeting will be the second-Tuesday (July 11th) due to Independence Day.

    APRIL 2023 LVJBS Meeting Minutes

    Date: April 11, 2023

    Meeting Start: 7:07 PM

    Location: Crown & Anchor

    Attendees:  Johnnie T., Paige T., Jessica G., Shannon S., Brett R.

    Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie):

“Let’s get started.  Thanks to everyone’s contributions to the Legends Lounge Reunion.”

    • ·         A. A newly created FUNDRAISING BROCHURE has been drafted & sent to our Mayor (Shannon) to add to.  Once the draft is edited, it will be sent to all Officers for additional adds/concerns.  This brochure would be one that we can send to various corporations in the hopes that donations can be sent our way.
    •
    • ·         B. The new owners of SaddlesNSpurs has asked that we move our former 2nd Sunday event to a 2nd Tuesday event.  Discussed our thoughts of weeknight shows already tending to be a concern for many of our LVJBS members—especially since the location is not too convenient.  More details TBD.
    •
    • ·         C. THE SPACELV was contacted.  We are looking into a JUNE event. (Thoughts:  3 local bands for $20-25 to help recover funds from the recent Legends Lounge loss.)  Concerns:  June weekends have some out of town events/locals not wanting to spend $20-25.  More info TBD.
    •
    • ·         D.  We are wanting to rid the remainder of Howie Green’s memorabilia by July’s end before donating it.  The summer heat could be bad for its currently stored garage location.
    •
    • ·         E.  A few members are planning to support our musician friend, Taylor Wachman, at his Friday, 4/28 event at THE GAMBIT (formerly The E-String) & to check out the venue for possible future use.
    •
    • Item 2: Vice President’s Report/PRODUCTION Report (Greg: absent—notes via Jessica):
    •
    • ·         A. Thank you all for the Legends Lounge Reunion’s hard work.
    •
    • ·         B. The check from The Hideaway will be given to our Treasurer ASAP.

    • ·         C. Suggestion of adding a VIRTUAL TIP JAR asking those who missed out on donating to the RAFFLE at the Legends event.  (The website has a Virtual Jar already, says JT.)  We will need to add a post on our Facebook page with a link to donating.  (Greg to create this post.)
    •
    • ·         D. Have not heard from any bands coming through with particular dates.

    Item 3:  Treasurer’s Report (Paige)

    • ·         A. The Legends Lounge Reunion was about a $1K loss.  Still awaiting the check from our VP from The Hideway.
    •
    • ·         B. Decided it would be best to make contact with bands/Agents prior to their arrival to our events to see ‘how’ they would like their funds given (by check, cash, etc.).  This would avoid any confusion on ‘either end’.
    •
    • ·         C. During the Legends event, the TECOPA PRODUCTIONS crew asked if the LVJBS would be interested in ‘matching’ their $500 donation to the 4/15 Tecopa Firefighters Fundraiser.  Due to our recent money loss, we will offer $100.
    •
    • ·         D.  Cubensis autographed the donated bass guitar (with the RHCP sticker on it) & a few of the event posters.  These will soon be a fundraiser.
    •
    • ·         E.  The ‘Peter Porter Scholarship’ through the PEF (Public Education Fund), which we have provided 4 $500 quarterly scholarships to freshman college students who are studying music have been chosen & we should be hearing from the recipients soon since they should be informed of their selection in mid-April.  The recipients are expected to send the the LVJBS a ‘thank you note’ along with their photo & bio to display on our website.  We will be getting a ‘Thank You Note’ to ‘Tecopa Productions’ for their donation of $500 to our PEF scholarship.  (Jessica to mail it once our recipients make contact.)
    •
    • ·         F. We are declining our thoughts of the discussed volunteer program: ‘Best-Crowd-Management’ since we didn’t get enough volunteers and hadn’t heard back from the company.
    •
    • ·         G:  Paige sent Shannon our non-profit info so she can share it with her Boss in regards to a possible future Capriotti’s LVJBS Fundraising night.  More details TBD.
    •
    •

    Item 4: Secretary’s Report (Jessica):

    • ·         A. The next planned ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY event before the summertime heat will be on SUNDAY, MAY 7th @ 9 AM.  More details TBA.
    •
    •
    • Item 5:  Mayor’s Report (Shannon):
    •
    • ·         A. Reached out to Hot Buttered Rum after Ramon sent their interest our way.  Spoke with Derrick, their Agent.  They were looking into a Spring/Summer date.  Shannon to speak with Greg to make contact with the HBR Agent before our May meeting to inquire costs, etc.
    •
    • ·         B. The recent JamminOn’ event for Leo/Tandy’s wedding event was celebrated and enjoyed by a few of the LVJBS Officers/Members.  Many LVJBS necklaces/cards were shared with the attendees.
    •
    • ·         C.  COLOR:  Chartreuse

    Production Report (Jessica):

    • ·         A. Marcus Rezak reached out after having a great time with Cubensis & the LVJBS.  He would like to have his other bands, Dead tribute SHRED IS DEAD & his Phish Tribute band, GUMBO, come back to play for the LVJBS.  He sent dates of May 19/20, yet the team feels this is too soon to plan a successful event (especially with Dead & Co. being in L.A. that weekend).  He says dates ‘further’ out would work, too!  (Jessica to email Marcus to see what his minimums would be, rooms needed, bar tab, etc. before the May meeting.)  (*another optional thought is having one or both bands back for our annual Holiday party event.)
    • More details TBD.

    Open Floor:

    • ·         Welcome to Brett R. (a new LVJBS member & music fan) who attended our meeting and shared great thoughts/ideas.

    Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie):

“Okay, Let’s get started—Let’s make it happen!”

    • ·         A. JT inquiring about the plan to at least ‘break even’ with the upcoming Legends Family Reunion with Cubensis & Pitchfork (band costs, airline flight reimbursements for our first President and First Lady, Rudy & Linda).  Greg to discuss this on the LVJBS Team page.
    •
    • ·         B. The SaddlesNSpurs 2nd Sunday event with RedEyeGin has been canceled for the month.  Jessica to update the Facebook post and JT to edit the WildApricot event info.  (Unsure if we will continue with these promotions).
    •

Item 2: Vice President’s Report/PRODUCTION Report (Greg: absent—notes via Shannon):

    • ·         A. For the upcoming ‘Legends Reunion’ event with CUBENSIS & PITCHFORK, we need to continue that diligent share process and ensure we are sending the info to those who ‘used to’ attend Legends Lounge events so they can plan ahead and attend.
    •
    • --The update on the mentioned HIDEAWAY Beautification Committee will be shared to the LVJBS Team page.  Mentions:  random landscaping pruning, adding some banners/tie-dyes, artificial plants/shrubs, etc. would help the area.
    •
    • --Jessica to have some colored posters made for signage/displays from her school’s poster maker.
    •

    Item 3: Treasurer’s Report (Paige)

    • ·         A. The ‘Peter Porter Scholarship’ through the PEF (Public Education Fund), which we have provided 4 $500 quarterly scholarships to freshman college students who are studying music have been chosen.  They will be contacted and informed of their selection in mid-April.  The recipients are expected to send the the LVJBS a ‘thank you note’ along with their photo & bio to display on our website.  We will be getting a ‘Thank You Note’ to ‘Tecopa Productions for their donation of $500 to our PEF scholarship.  (Jessica to mail it.)
    •
    • ·         B.  The website needs to be updated to remove the ‘AmazonSmile’ information since that program is no longer in service.  They will be sending us the last 4Q payment after the recent $28.87 was sent our way.  (JT to edit website)
    •
    • ·         C. Jessica & Paige will be meeting with Louis, from Sunset Park, on March 13th to identify the spot for the upcoming planting of the ‘LVJBS Memorial Tree’.  (We will be adding a ‘Virtual Tip Jar’ to help raise the tree’s funding.  JT to make WildApricot post & Jessica to share it on Facebook, as well.)
    •
    • ·         D. Still no update on the discussed volunteer program: ‘Best-Crowd-Management’, (We would need to have a 10 person minimum team to complete the needed forms for their required background checks.  We currently have 5 signed up. The ‘salary’ of these volunteers would be donated back to the LVJBS as a fundraiser.)
    • Please contact Paige Tolson for more info: herespaige@hotmail.com
    •
    • ·         E. There will be no ‘Tecopa Takeover’ at Garage Mahal, in April, as once mentioned.
    •
    • ·         F:  Concern of our upcoming ‘Reunion’ event not being able to charge money due to the ‘gaming’ bar.  We will be advertising it as a “with your $20 donation, you will get to hear two bands & get 4 ‘raffle tickets’ to enter for great prizes!”  We will ensure each guest donates $20 for this event.
    •
    • ·         G:  We have Jeremy of JamminOn on board with a future Springtime event for the ‘Howie Green Memorial Fundraiser’.  Instead of having a band, we are thinking of a daytime event (12 PM-4:20 PM) filled with various Grateful Dead/Jam band music played on speakers.  This will allow us to increase our fundraising for the silent auction-type event.  (Howie Green’s daughters are excited for this event & want to be present.)
    • (Jessica to speak with Jeremy about this mentioned change since his recent hope was to have Moksha (or like-band) perform.)

    • ·         H:  Paige will be sending Shannon our non-profit info so she can share it with her Boss in regards to a possible future Capriotti’s LVJBS Fundraising night.  More details TBD.

    •
    • Item 5:  Mayor’s Report (Shannon):
    •
    • ·         A. There was a large amount of LVJBS advertising this past WSP weekend.  Various LVJBS cards and guitar-pic necklaces were shared.  Keep it up!
    •
    • ·         B.  Jessica & JT will be collaborating on creating the photo/bio card for Howie Green’s items.  This card will be printed with VistaPrints to insert into the Howie-goods!
    •
    • ·         C.  COLOR:  Periwinkle

    Open Floor:

    • ·         Jeffrey T. came by at the start of the meeting to share his idea for the TECOPA FIREFIGHTER FUNDARAISER that is happening in Tecopa on Saturday, April 15th.  He was hoping they could have a table set up at the Garage Mahal Takeover which ‘was’ planned for Easter weekend, yet this event was recently canceled.  (Please contact JFree if you are interested in supporting the Firefighters or attending their 4/15 event.)
    •

    FEBRUARY 2023 LVJBS Meeting Minutes

    Meeting Start: 7:25 PM

    Location: Rocky’s Bar & Grill

    Attendees:  Paige T., Jessica G., Greg S., Shannon S., Dan R., Jeffrey T.

Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie (absent)—provided notes via Greg):

    “Uh…You’re waiting for us!?”

     A. Lotteries from AEG ticketing:

    • Clarifications:  When ‘paid couples’ register, both people are eligible. Posts are on either Facebook, IG, or Twitter. (AEG has asked for ‘screenshots’ of those shared posts, so we need to ensure ‘all requested tasks (i.e. tag 4 non-members) is done correctly.
    • Current winners:
    • 3/4: Indigo/Cody
    • 3/5: Erin, Shelly, Lisa, Deborah
    • 3/6: Register 2/13-2/17 with ‘Winners” announced on 2/19.

    • B. SaddlesNSpurs is continuing with our assistance in their 2nd Sunday (7 PM- 11 PM) jams.  Taylor Wachman was covering the past year’s events & has confirmed to play the upcoming 3/12 event with RED EYE GIN BAND.
    •
    • C. The Howie Green Memorabilia collection is ready to begin the ‘auction-type’ distribution.  We will be working on the organization of the collection this month.

    • We are looking into finding a location with a large enough area to display the items and hoping to make it a music-filled afternoon where music fans can take a look at the displayed items and make purchases.  Last month, we discussed the possible date of Sunday, March 12th & the possible location of JamminOn TieDyes which has large table space and a music area.  We decided to contact Jeremy Strebel of JamminON for a possible 2 PM-6 PM event to not conflict with the SaddlesNSpurs, 7 PM RedEyeGin Band event.
    •

    Item 2: Vice President’s Report/PRODUCTION Report (Greg):

    • A. The Shaky Feelin’ event in January was a great event.  We were diligent in the ‘flood’ of advertising with reminders and event shares.
    • B. For the upcoming ‘Legends Reunion’ event with CUBENSIS & PITCHFORK, we need to continue that diligent share process and ensure we are sending the info to those who ‘used to’ attend Legends Lounge events so they can plan ahead and attend.

    • --We will need a small stage set-up for the outside stage that PITCHFORK will be jamming on.  Greg to inquire with BenJammin or Michael Andrieu.  (In case of inclement weather, we would have the Pitchfork members on ground level in front of the Cubensis set up.)
    •
    • --Thoughts of having a HIDEAWAY beautification committee prior to the event is needed.  Random landscaping pruning, adding some banners/tie-dyes, artificial plants/shrubs, etc. would help the area.  Greg has some photos and ideas to help get that team started.
    •
    • C. Made contact ANDREW CORTNEY (former Vinyl/Hard Rock Hotel production manager).  We will see if ShakyFeelin’ is available for a possible late-night Widespread Panic event at the Oxford24 (former Vinyl) venue.  He is also working with TheSpaceLV and is open to a future LVJBS collaboration.  (Thoughts on having SPAFFORD come back to town.  More info TBD.)
    •
    • D. We will ask JT to make contact with The Brooklyn Bowl again for updates on the comp-tix in exchange for advertising help.
    •
    •

    • A. The ‘Peter Porter Scholarship’ through the PEF (Public Education Fund), which we have provided 4 $500 quarterly scholarships to freshman college students who are studying music has 13 qualified applicants of the 15 submissions.
    • 4 of the applicants will be chosen by a group of LVJBS Officers/Members on 2/26 @ 2PM, while they work on the Howie Green memorabilia organization at the Tolson’s home.  This team of evaluators will read through the applicant’s submissions and choose who they think are the most qualified.
    •
    • B. AmazonSmile has announced the ending of their non-profits’ assistance program. Thanks to those who participated in earning extra funds for the LVJBS.  We still have the Smiths Grocery Stores’ bonuses (last quarter was $42/07 profit.)
    •
    •
    • C. Louis, from Sunset Park, confirmed our springtime planting of the ‘LVJBS Memorial Tree’.  We will pick a date in March to get taken around with the Park Ranger to choose the location/area that we would like our tree planted.
    •
    • D. The discussed volunteer program, from ‘Best-Crowd-Management’, needs us to have a 10 person minimum team to complete the needed forms for their required background checks.  We currently have 5 signed up. The ‘salary’ of these volunteers would be donated back to the LVJBS as a fundraiser.  Please contact Paige Tolson for more info: herespaige@hotmail.com

    Item 4: Secretary’s Report (Jessica)

    • Thanks to those who helped at our recent ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY WINTER-CLEAN-UP:  Paige T., JT, Jessica G., Shannon S., & Jay E.

    SEPTEMBER 2022 LVJBS Meeting Minutes

    Date: September 6, 2022

    Meeting Start: 7:08 PM

    Location: Rocky’s Bar & Grill

    Attendees:  Johnnie T., Paige T., Jessica G., Greg S., Adam P., Dan R., Ramon F., Jeffrey T.

    Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie):

    “Let’s get going!”

    • Thank you to everyone, our Volunteers & our Officers, for their service so far this year!  J  2023 Officers Nominations will be in October, with November being the ‘acceptance/denial’ of those Nominations, & December being the Elections for the upcoming year’s offices:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, & Mayor.
    • Our 2nd Sunday events at SaddlesN’Spurs (with an open jam) will continue this month, September (9/11 with RED EYE GIN) & next month, October 9th (band TBD).
    • (The November & December events will not be an LVJBS collaboration due to the Tecopa Takeover weekend & the December Holidays.)  *Due to the amount of beverages provided from the bartenders, the bands will no longer have ‘provided’ drinks.  (Suggestion:  The bar might want to provide a couple of ‘raffle-like’ tickets to the band members to help control the comps.)
    • The TECOPA TAKEOVER will be on Friday 11/11 through Sunday, 11/13.  This event will be $100 for the weekend’s events.  We will be working with the Bichsel’s (Dave & Megan) to ensure the Volunteer list is filled (Security/Gate Staff/Bracelets, etc.)  The helpful Google-Sheet time-slot lists were helpful in the past.
    • No reply yet from Goodwill via email attempt regarding instrument donations.
    • SHAKEY FEELIN’ is booked at the SandDollar Plaza for Sept. 23rd.
    • Looking at various, new venues across town.  DIVERSION AMUSEMENTS (5321 Cameron St., near Hacienda) is a rental-events space & is one that may work for our upcoming Hot Buttered Rum/Holiday event.  More details & band confirmation TBA. (Other thoughts:  Garage Mahal or The Space LV)
    • Sent a message to one of our musician-pals, Tom Wood, in regards to a confusing Facebook page called Las Vegas Jam Band Society.  Some LVJBS inquiries have joined the conflicting page.  LVJBS is a recognized non-profit so we are asking for the other page to kindly name edit.
    • Laurie Green, Howie’s widow, reached out regarding the plethora of albums, CD’s, posters, music equipment, & memorabilia that she wants to donate our way at September’s end.  The Officers will get together to pick up the many boxes and better organize them into possible raffles/silent auctions, etc. to help raise funds for our Scholarship fund.  More details TBA.

Item 2: Vice President’s Report (Adam):

    • Nothing new to report.
    • There is an upcoming ‘Nirvana’ tribute band (Smells Like Nirvana) that will be at The SpaceLV on Oct. 16th ($20 in case anyone’s interested.  They are great!)

    Item 3: Treasurer’s Report (Paige)

    • A. We will provide $1k to the Tecopa Takeover event.
    • B.  Discussed the recent updates/research on the discussed ‘Las Vegas Jam Band Society Memorial Tree’ $500 to designate & plant our own ‘tree’ at a Las Vegas park of our choice.  We will use some of the ‘Howie Green’ raised funds to help with the memorial.  The tree will have a provided name plate/plaque:

Las Vegas Jam Band Society’s Memorial Tree

In Honor of our Family & Friends

    • C.  We will split the funds earned from the ‘Green’ donation with 10% of funds to the LVJBS, $500 to the Memorial tree, & the rest to the Scholarship fund.
    •   D.  We will be providing a $250 VISA Gift Card or Delta Airline Gift Card to our former LVJBS Officer, Dan. R., in memory of his late wife, Donna.
    •  E.     PAY YOUR DUES!  J

    Item 4: Secretary’s Report (Jessica)

    • A. Reminded our Production Team to make contact with Phil Kotler, the Entertainment & Events Manager at SQUARE BAR (Maryland Pkwy, near Karen—Commercial Center).  They have a small stage area with live music on Friday nights, which show on their bar TVs overhead, as well.  Their calendar is booked through August and sounded open to working with the LVJBS for future dates.  (JT or Greg to make further contact via email:  phil@squarebarlasvegas.com or business phone: (702) 234-8963.)
    • B. Contacted the GAMBIT --Henderson venue (the old E-String Bar & Grill) as requested.  The booking person, Assistant Manager, doesn’t think going beyond their ‘fixed menu, Jazz-style events will work out.
    • C. REMINDER: The next LVJBS ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY after summer, clean-up will be on SUNDAY, 9/11 from 9AM-11AM.  Please plan on joining us to help clean-up our lake’s roadside!

    Item 5:  Mayor’s Report (Greg)

    ·         A.    Color:  SAPPHIRE BLUE

    Item 6: Production Report (Greg):

    ·         A. Discussed more of the Legends Lounge/Grateful Family Reunion (which we thought could be in Sept./Oct. might work better in the Springtime).  Update:  Thoughts are to move it to the Spring due to Tecopa. April 8th (Easter weekend) or the following April 15th, prior to the SoCal ‘Skull & Roses’ festival the weekend of April 19-23.  More contact with Cubensis and Catfish John will happen soon.

    ·         B.  BOOTJUICE made contact with us due to them being near Las Vegas in November.  (They will be at the Tecopa Takeover, so may not have known that we are connected with that.)  Greg suggested they make contact with The SandDollar Lounge.

    Open Floor:

    • Welcome Jeffrey Trower!  The TECOPA TAKEOVER is nearing (Nov. 11-13) & JFree brought up his annual Raffle-fun once again!  Please look for the upcoming Volunteer list & let him know of any donations for the Raffle.
    •
    • JFree also mentioned a VARIETY-SHOW-type-SIDE-STAGE event (at Tecopa) where it would be an interactive, fun display of talents (e.g. jugglers, comedians, dancers, etc.)  Please continue to spread the word of that fun, connecting Jfree with those interested artists.  J
    •
    • Ramon has continually been in touch with Derrick, the local manager for HOT BUTTERED RUM.  We need to confirm the venue location and the confirmed 12/18 date that was shared last month.  Due to the later date in December, the Officers mentioned it possibly being a daytime event in the case that it’s outdoors (2PM-5PM-ish). We want to see if any of the band’s ‘requests’ can possibly be ‘discounted’ to our non-profit (Band lodging, Meal & Beverage requests, Porta-potty rentals depending on the venue, heat lamps, etc.)
    •
    • ·Discussed a future meeting location at the German-American Social Club in N. Las Vegas, 1110 E Lake Mead Blvd, North Las Vegas, NV 89030. They do a Tuesday-Bluesday event (Monk & the Po’ Boys participate on the 4th Tuesday of each month, not the first Tuesday, like our meeting dates.)

    AUGUST 2022 LVJBS Meeting Minutes

    Date: August 2, 2022

    Meeting Start: 7:05 PM

    Location: 595 Brewery

    Attendees:  Paige T., Jessica G., Jeffrey T., Ramon F.

    Item 1: President’s Report (Johnnie—absent w/ notes via Paige):

    “Let’s do this!”

    • ·      JT reached out to Steve Yakaitis who showed interest in volunteering and assisting us with fundraising since his retirement. (JT is hoping to make Steve an ‘assistant’ of sorts by helping to create a letter for sponsors to help with fundraising, contacting various sponsors, etc.) Nothing yet finalized.  More info TBD.
    • ·      Our 2nd Sunday events with TheeMessArounds at SaddlesN’Spurs (with an open jam) have been doing well. The next event is August 14th.  Please remember to spread the word (like & share it) for extra advertisement help.
    • Question: Does the LVJBS want to continue with these 2nd Sunday events?  If so, the next two months would fall on Sunday, Sept. 11th & Sunday, October 9th. (*The November date will conflict with our Tecopa Takeover & the December event would fall on Sunday, Dec. 11th.)
    • *Meeting attendees discussed a possible LVJBS Holiday Party on that date, if so. YET, later in the meeting (*see ‘Open Floor’) discussed a possible 3rd Sunday switch with LVBS (LV Blues Society), to possibly host a touring band with an LVJBS Holiday event on 12/18.  More details and discussion TBD.
    • ·         No reply yet from Goodwill via email attempt regarding instrument donations.  JT to call again soon. More info TBD.
    • ·         Still no reply from Dan R. as of now, in regards to the LVJBS’ empathy towards his recent loss of his lovely wife, so we will reach out once again, offering a Gift Card for an Airline/Travel Voucher for Dan to be able to visit family out of state.
    • ·         SHAKEY FEELIN’ is booked at the SandDollar Plaza for Sept. 23rd. (Greg to get graphic our way for advertising.)
    • ·         We will be getting 10 tickets from BBLV to raffle off to our Members.  Winners posted SOON!
    • ·         Spoke with Harrison at RELIX magazine in regards to a RELIX table set up at Goose.  We will need 3-4 Volunteers, so please let us know if any interest!

    Item 2: Vice President’s Report (Adam-absent)

    • ·         No report.

    Item 3: Treasurer’s Report (Paige)

    ·         A.    Review of balances. Monies in both checking and savings (Scholarship fund money)

    ·         B.    Discussed the recent updates/research on the discussed ‘Las Vegas Jam Band Society Memorial Tree’ --We mentioned a possible memorial tree for our recent losses (Jenn M, Donna R., etc.).  Looked into pricing for these types of memorials. $500 to designate & plant our own ‘tree’ at a Las Vegas park of our choice.  Another option for $100, would provide a name plate/plaque to an existing tree. (Paige showed the researched location options and the existing tree info.)

After great discussion, the meeting attendees narrowed down the $100 tree locations to more central locations, in safer, less crime-filled areas to avoid any vandalism. We also discussed being sure to check out ‘where’ in those parks the tree would be, to ensure there is ‘space’ for drum circle-type events that are not near neighborhood walls, etc.  (We do not want to have noise complaints, we want to ensure there is parking nearby, etc.)  Meeting attendees considered discussing the $500 tree, choosing our centrally located & drum-circle friendly, Sunset Park.  (*Paige & Jessica are going to make the effort to check out the other parks’ existing $100 trees, the location within the parks, & take photos to share at our Sept. meeting.)

    • ·         C.    PAY YOUR DUES!  J

    Item 4: Secretary’s Report (Jessica)

    • ·         A. Met with Phil Kotler, the Entertainment & Events Manager at SQUARE BAR (Maryland Pkwy, near Karen—Commercial Center).  They have a small stage area with live music on Friday nights, which show on their bar TVs overhead, as well.  Their calendar is booked through August and sounded open to working with the LVJBS for future dates.
    • (JT or Greg to make further contact via email:  phil@squarebarlasvegas.com or business phone: (702) 234-8963.)

    Item 5:  Mayor’s Report (Greg—via text)

    ·         A.    Color:  Forest Green

Item 6: Production Report (Greg—via text):

    • ·         A. Spoke with Dave about doing the discussed Legends Lounge/Grateful Dead ‘reunion style’ party (Sept./Oct.) at The Hideaway that was discussed at a recent meeting, yet it might be ‘too close’ to the Tecopa weekend which takes a lot of planning, as well.  Possible thought of asking CUBENSIS to join Tecopa instead.  More info TBD.

    Open Floor:

    • ·         Welcome Jeffrey Trower!  The TECOPA TAKEOVER is nearing (Nov. 11-13) & JFree brought up his annual Raffle-fun!  In the past, Volunteers have been great and helpful to ensure JFree can still enjoy the festival, without taking on the quite huge raffle tasks.  He asked if the LVJBS would still offer our volunteering help.  Paige & Jessica support and feel our ‘usual’ volunteers would assist. (Megan B. is often helpful in creating those volunteer sign-ups, etc.)
    • ·         JFree also mentioned a VARIETY-SHOW-type-SIDE-STAGE event (at Tecopa) where it would be an interactive, fun display of talents (e.g. jugglers, comedians, dancers, etc.)  Please be sure to spread the word of that fun, connecting Jfree with those interested artists.  J

    • ·         Welcome Ramon Fagundo!  Ramon has been talking with Derrick, the local manager for HOT BUTTERED RUM, who Ramon has recently become a ‘huge fan’.  HBR had played for the LVJBS in the past and are interested in coming through town again.  They are nearby, in SoCal the week of Dec. 7th-12th.  (The mention of SaddlesNSpurs, that following Sunday, Dec. 18th, was discussed in case the ‘date swap’ of the LVBS’s 3rd Sunday event could possible switch with ‘our 2nd Sunday’ date of Dec. 11th.  Our Production Team will soon make contact with the LVBS to see what their thoughts are before looking into another venue location/making contact with Hot Buttered Rum. (This event could also be our annual LVJBS Holiday Party!?)

(Ramon shared his contact info with us for any future need!)  J

    • ·         Question brought up regarding the GAMBIT Henderson venue (the old E-String Bar & Grill).  Jessica to make contact with them to see what their venue is like these days & inquire whether or not it would welcome a LVJBS collaboration, or a possible meeting location to meet their Management.  More info shared at the Sept. meeting.

    • ·         The next LVJBS ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY after summer, clean-up will be on SUNDAY, 9/11 from 9AM-11AM.  More info to be shared soon, via a Facebook event.  Please plan on joining us to help clean-up our lake’s roadside!
