LVJBS JUNE 2025

Members’ Meeting Minutes

Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2025

Meeting Start:   7:03 PM

Location: Rocky’s Bar & Grill

Attendees: Jessica G., Jess P., Paige T., Angela C., Haley S., Johnnie T., Deborah S.

Item1: President’s Report (Jessica G.):

“Welcome, Everyone, to another Vegas Summertime!  Glad to have our in-person 2nd quarter Members’ meeting!”

A.    Ad-Partnerships updates:

*BBLV: Upcoming Lottery (will go out to Members late June):

*July 20th: START MAKING SENSE(Talking Heads Tribute)

Will soon make contact in regards to upcoming late-summer/fall ad-partnership assistance:  MODEST MOUSE (Aug. 27th) & TRIBAL SEEDS & THE MOVEMENT (Sept. 11th)

*Should we look into Ad-Partnering with other venues (i.e. Virgin Hotel) again?  The Australian Pink Floyd (Aug. 20), America (Sept. 26)  OR possibly a group pricing deal/ticket donations for the Mandalay Bay’s Bob Marley--HOPE ROAD show which starts at month’s end?  Group supports this.

Angela to connect with Greg regarding previous contact person @ Virgin Hotel future partnership possibilities.

Currently we do not have a contact person with Mandalay Bay.

B.  Shakedown Vegas:

A huge ‘Thank You’ to our Volunteers and Supporters of this year’s Tuscany Shakedown Vegas!  We are thankful to Robert Shatzer for this fun opportunity!  Paige will cover more details in the upcoming Treasurer’s Report.

B.    Quarterly event with the SandDollar LV:

The SHAKY FEELIN’ show was moved to Garage Mahall, on Saturday, May 24th due to a booking conflict at the SandDollar LV.  Thanks to those volunteers who helped with the LVJBS table & to the venue for being awesome hosts! The band had a great time. We had raffled off one of our donated Joel Shover Photography’s framed photos of Dead & Company.  The winner was Thomas Gharrity!

Should we look into making the June 14th Catfish John show, the LVJBS 2Q SDLV event? Yes – Jessica to contact Scott T. to discuss.

C.  We were gifted some random tutorial books, two bass amps, a keyboard, and stand to donate to a school last month, from the Friend of a local musician, Scott Keeton, who recently passed away.  They are stored at our Pal, Derek Jordan’s home until we find the school in need to deliver them to.

Jessica will first contact her school to see if they are in need of the donations & look into other schools, if needed.

Item 2: Vice President’s Report (Jessica P.):

  • A.   Will be out of town Tuesday, July 1st during our next ‘virtual’ Officers’ meeting. We are not planning to schedule the meeting despite the proximity to the 4th of July holiday.
  • B.   Added to the ‘local upcoming events’ calendar.  Jess G. to share each month’s list to avoid Jess P. doing double duty.
Item 3:  TREASURER’S REPORT (Paige):
  • ·        Met with Robert S. – provided payment for Shakedown sales. Returned unsold merchandise. Discussed T-shirt sales and logistics for next year. Robert suggested we consider hiring help next year (maybe teens or those needing ‘volunteer’/community service hours for school, etc.). Our sales were less than last year (only about 1/3), likely due to location of our table – towards the back of Shakedown near the stage, that Shakedown was exclusively outdoors, and that there were more vendors this year. Last year Shakedown was primarily inside, our table located at the entrance with maximum visibility. Volunteers enjoyed our location this year.
  • ·        2025 DUES/Member updates
  • End of June is the last time to be able to pay the half-year, 6-month Membership for $60/per person or $100/same household couple.  (July-Dec.)  After that, Membership can be paid monthly & would need to be paid ($10/ea. Month) by the ‘first Tuesday’ of that particular month. This way, monthly ‘member-credit’ is earned for monthly lotteries, etc.
  • We will make a $50/6 month deal for those that pay by June 15th. Jessica to make a Facebook post to advertise the ‘special’.
  • ·       PEF Scholarship update: As of May 2nd, applicants have been notified of their status. They were asked to confirm their acceptance of the scholarship. More info TBA – Paige to follow up.

Item 4:  SECRETARY’S REPORT (Angela):

  • A.   Jessica G. sent agenda to help with minutes.

Item 5: MAYOR’S REPORT (Haley S.):

PRODUCTION REPORT(Greg): (Greg not in attendance)

  • ·       Update on the mentioned 3Q (August) SandDollar LV/ LVJBS presents event: “All You Can Eat Orchestra” band is available Friday, August 8th or August 29th.  Jessica sent email, on 6/2, to Nate at The SandDollar to see if one of those dates is open—They are booked in August—no open nights.  Jessica asked about 9/20 – Jessica awaiting SDLV reply for the Sept. date.  (Maybe a 6pm-9pm early show for a previously booked night?
  • ·       4Q mentions: Mega-Scopes (Should we look into holding a date/weekend yet?)  Should we see if an ‘Igloo’ ‘Miracle on Spring Mtn. night can work?
